Debby Meredith joined Icon Ventures as an Operating Partner of Engineering in 2003 bringing over twenty years of start-up experience managing engineering teams with state-of-the-art practices. Debby provides great hands-on experience in scaling engineering teams to deliver world-class products. She is a highly sought after resource for many companies in Silicon Valley.
Before joining Icon, Debby was a Venture Partner with Mohr, Davidow Ventures, where she worked with portfolio companies as an interim VP of Engineering or CEO. Earlier in her career, Debby was with AOL/Netscape where she held several positions including Senior Vice President of Strategic Technologies and Products, VP of Browser Products and Chief Quality Officer. Prior to Netscape, she was VP of Engineering for Collabra Software and VP of Development for Slate. Debby also held key technical positions at Metaphor Computer Systems, Logitech and Bell Laboratories.
Along with her role at Icon, Debby takes on consulting assignments for a variety of well-regarded venture-backed companies, often serving as interim VP of Engineering until a replacement can be found with her help. In her consulting roles, she works with technical teams on all aspects of the challenges of an engineering organization including process, quality assurance, scaling, management and recruiting.
Debby’s past clients include Good Technology (BlackBerry), NearbyNow, OpenTable (OPEN), Proofpoint (PFPT), Scribd, Socialtext, Voltage Security (HP), Alation, Area 1 Security (CloudFlare), Yubico and OpenGov. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Computer History Museum.
Debby earned a Master of Science degree in computer science from Stanford University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Michigan.
